DescriptionRegular Granthavachana
The process of learning Ayurveda as explained in the granthas involves three steps – Patha, Avabodh, and Anushthana. To achieve knowledge through these steps, one must do the necessary abhyasa of the original scriptures. Abhyasa means repetitive reading and understanding the concepts and principles that are put forth in the compendiums. Rigorous and repetitive reading of these granthas imparts clarity of concepts and thoughts. To imbibe the habit of reading pure granthas our sir, Vd. M. V. Kolhatkar, preached the core granthas every day at his home ‘Dharma-chaitanya’. Many students used to attend his morning lecture with a view of reading the grantha. He inculcated this habit in many students.
In order to continue his legacy, this habitual vachana is undertaken by some of the vaidyas in Kolhatkar tradition. This vachana takes place consistently at ‘Dharma-chaitanya’ and number of students attend it regularly. Many topics have been covered through this vachana from Ashtang-hruday, Ashtang-sangraha, Charaka samhita and Sushruta- samhita.
